Super story da. So if you hadn't been rescued by the fact that you had reached your destination, what would the answer have been?
  • Amit · 6 months ago
This is a truly amazing anecdote. Brilliantly recounted by you as well.... keep on writing...

@ramesh - Tricky one. In his head, he felt justified for taking cash/car. Do you blame him or the circumstances?
  • Ramesh Srivats · 6 months ago
Cheating. You can't answer the question by posing another one back.
  • Pavita · 6 months ago
Lovely storytelling. Am curious - what would have been the answer to his question?
  • opinion · 6 months ago
@ramesh, pavita - OK :-) Am totally against the act of taking moolah from the family of the soon-to-be. I guess you cannot condone the act in the name of anything else.

ohhhhh finished.nahiiiiiiiiiiiii..jaldi se koi aur story..got too used to this in de past month..and i really think ur chronicles are better than the one time posts :-D

@rahul, ms P and ramesh- As far as your answer...i think we all r being too rigid on the lets c, so called dowry taking..As in isn't it a li'll subjective..so long as the giver can give n the taker doesn't have to burn, torture or bollywood style take the baraat bk does it really matter..as in if my father can afford and wants to give me a car/house/whatever...why not..????
i think the poor bugger here is justified considering all the money he spent on the bloke who has not even asked his dad to live in the good times with him...

oh i love these debates..lets hav another one soon.

Ookay, so have I missed the bus (er, cab) on your comments section??? I'll barge in, anyway.

Superb conversation, Rahul, and superbly captured. So much to learn about life, truth, deceit, superficiality, character, characterlessness, hardships and irony, in this post.

One question: did you carry a dictaphone with you, like we journos do??? How could you possibly remember alllllll of that??!!

    :)
  • opinion · 5 months ago
Good to see you back here Devina :-) thought I'd lost a reader considering the gap :-)
No dictaphone, just that this conversation was really unforgettable :-)
